There’s no question that Valentine’s Day will be a little different this year for most people. That said, the Valentine’s Day industry is still expected to do really well this year, despite everything. In fact, it’s expected that the industry will make $25 billion in 2021, thanks to gifts and cards, etc.
Because of this difficult time we're living in, most of us will be staying in with our significant others, rather than having a special date night out. But that doesn’t mean you have to order takeout and binge-watch your favorite Netflix show again (although if that’s your thing, go for it!).
You could always venture a little outside the box when it comes to your date night, if you wanted to. It’s important to let your creative sparks fly - so you can get some real sparks going later on! Let's go over three creative pandemic date ideas you can put to good use this year...
Pack a picnic for each other! Plan your picnic by packing a meal for your partner, and have them pack a meal for you. But, don’t tell each other what you’re planning on preparing. When you get to your picnic spot, switch! It’s a great way to be surprised, and you might end up finding a new favorite dish.
Get socially distanced and creative! There are plenty of wonderful things you can do with each other that don’t require being around big crowds. One idea is for each of you to pick something you’ve never done before, and turn it into a day-long date. Maybe that involves playing tennis, riding a mechanical bull, or going to the batting cages! Whatever it is, doing something new and different can help you both break out of the rut that this pandemic has put so many people in. Plus, trying something new can help to give you both an adrenaline rush - that can come in handy when it comes to enjoying a few kisses later on...
Go traditional. At the end of the day, it never hurts to show your partner you care about them by going down the traditional route. Everything from Valentine's flower delivery to boxes of chocolates can bring about some “aww”-inducing moments. There’s a reason these things have stood the test of time. While they might be a little cheesy, they also show your partner that you truly care, and you wanted to put a smile on their face.
In a time where so many things seem uncertain, Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to have fun and to celebrate your love. This pandemic won’t last forever, so get creative and stay safe now. In doing so, you’ll create Valentine’s Day memories that you’ll be talking about for years.
